Wow! My Walk to the Sky Lake: Tilicho!

Blog Article

I just did the Tilicho Lake trekking trip, and wow, it was something else! I’d seen pictures, sure. But seeing it with my own eyes? Totally different. It felt like walking into a postcard, but a real, chilly, amazing one!

The walk up was tough, I won’t lie. My legs felt like jelly some days. But then, I’d look up. I’d see these giant, snowy mountains all around me. The air was so clean. It made me feel strong. The path went up and up. Sometimes we saw yaks, big hairy cows, just chilling. The local people were so friendly. They always smiled and said "Namaste!" which means hello.

Then, after days of walking, we got there. Tilicho Lake. Oh. My. Goodness. It was HUGE! And the water was the bluest blue I have ever seen. Like a giant piece of sky fell down. Big, white mountains stood all around it, like guards. I just stood there, mouth open, I think. It was so quiet. You could only hear the wind. It felt like being on top of the world.

I learned that Tilicho Lake is super high up. It’s at about 4,919 meters (that's 16,138 feet!). That’s like standing on more than ten really tall buildings, one on top of the other! It's one of the highest lakes for its size. Lots of people want to see it.

This trip was more than just a walk. It made me feel so small next to those big mountains, but in a good way. It made me feel so happy and proud I did it. If you like adventure, and you want to see something truly special, you should try to see Tilicho Lake. Your legs might get tired, but your heart will be so full!
